
#8 NC State Preps to Host ITA Kickoff Weekend Matches

RALEIGH – For the third season in a row, the eighth-ranked NC State women's tennis team (3-0) prepares to host the 2022 ITA Kickoff Weekend with matches set for Jan. 29 and Jan. 30.
The Wolfpack squad is making its appearance in the Kickoff Weekend field for the sixth season in a row. NC State is the No. 1 seed for tournament action in Raleigh, and it welcomes Wake Forest, Northwestern and Penn State to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday.
All of the weekend's matches are free to attend, and parking on campus is also free of charge. Fans are required to wear masks for the indoor competitions per NC State's University Community Standards.
MATCH INFO:
All teams at the regional are guaranteed two matches, as the winners and losers from Saturday's competition will face off on Sunday. The overall winner from the Raleigh site will advance to to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The 16-team national tournament is set to be played Feb. 11-14 at the Nielsen Tennis Center on the campus of Wisconsin.

2 PM - Wake Forest vs. Northwestern
Sunday, Jan. 30
11 AM - Consolation Match (losers from Saturday)
2 PM - Championship Match (winners from Saturday)
LAST TIME OUT:
NC State opened dual match play last weekend with three wins in as many contests, coming away with victories over No. 23 Princeton, No. 10 Ohio State and ETSU. Priska Nugroho was honored as ACC Freshman of the Week after going unbeaten in doubles action to help the Wolfpack win some pivotal opening points and picking up a pair of singles wins, including one over a ranked opponent.
KICKOFF REWIND:
NC State reached the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in both 2019 and 2020 after coming out of its Kickoff Weekend competition unbeaten. In 2019, the squad defeated Mississippi State and Florida at regional action in Gainesville, Fla., to earn its first-ever bid to the national tournament. In 2020, the Pack hosted regional action and advanced with victories over Rice and Florida.
COMING UP:
Following this weekend's action, NC State hits the road for the first time in 2022 to take on No. 20 Tennessee on Friday, Feb. 4.
