Pack to Host Towson in Home Opener

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team is set to compete in its home opener Saturday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. as East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) opponent Towson makes the trip to Raleigh.
Fans attending meets are required to wear masks per NC State's Community Standards.

LAST TIME OUT
NC State opened its season with a 195.125 at Rutgers with North Carolina and New Hampshire, taking first place at the meet. The Pack's mark was its second-highest season-opening score in program history.
Junior Emily Shepard was the highest scorer for NC State on bars (9.825) and beam (9.875) while Nicole Webb led on floor (9.825) and Shruthi Anand posted the highest score for the team on vault (9.800).
Shepard's effort was good to earn her EAGL Specialist of the Week honors as her bars and beam score placed her on the podium (third place) in both events.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson ranks 37th in the nation with an average score of 194.075. The team's last outing resulted in a 194.150, good to get them the wins over William & Mary, West Chester and West Virginia.
Freshman Steph Macasu ranks third in the EAGL on bars with an average of 9.850 while sophomore Cassidy Stuart's beam average of 9.875 ties her for third in the league.

NC State remains in Raleigh to host a quad meet with William & Mary, George Washington and New Hampshire Saturday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m.
