RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer (4-5-2, 0-3-0 ACC) will wrap up a three-game home stand Friday when it welcomes No. 20 Notre Dame (9-1-1, 3-0-0 ACC) to Dail Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the contest will be broadcast on ACCNX.
PINK MATCH
Friday's contest will be the Wolfpack's annual Pink Match in effort to raise breast cancer awareness. The first 100 fans will receive a pink tie-dye t-shirt, and all fans will receive a pink ribbon via Zeta Tau Alpha. Additionally, there will be a table where fans can create a "send a smile" card for cancer patients and be entered to win a prize pack.
ALUMNI WEEKEND
Friday's match will be a part of the program's Alumni Weekend, as it welcomes former members back to Raleigh.
FREE ADMISSION
Beginning in 2021, NC State women's soccer games are free of charge. Gates will open one hour prior to the start of each match. As NC State works toward a more normal on-campus experience, NC State Athletics will continue abiding by the current policies for campus as outlined in the University Community Standards.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State dropped a 2-1 result on Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Stadium to No. 5 Virginia.
The Cavaliers struck first with an early goal, but Denae Antoine tallied her first career ACC goal to tie things up heading into the locker room at halftime. The second half was tightly contested between the two teams with six shots apiece (three on goal), but Virginia was able to capture the win with a set piece goal in the final minute of regulation.
This was the Wolfpack's fourth consecutive contest against a team that is ranked or receiving votes for the national polls. All five of its losses this season have been by a one-goal margin, and three of them have come down to the final minute of play.
SERIES HISTORY
Friday will be the 10th all-time meeting between the Pack and Fighting Irish, as Notre Dame owns a 6-3 advantage in the series.
The last two times the teams have played in Raleigh, NC State has won both contests with the most recent meeting coming on Oct. 27, 2019, when it earned a 3-0 victory. Prior to that, Notre Dame traveled to Raleigh on Oct. 29, 2017, for the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, and led by Tziarra King's first career hat trick the Pack won, 4-1.
ABOUT THE FIGHTING IRISH
Notre Dame is on a five-game win streak and is one of three teams in the conference that is still undefeated in league action. The Irish are off to their best start since 2013.
The squad was picked to finish sixth in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing eighth in the 2020 final standings and reaching the ACC Tournament.
