Wolfpack Takes Down Paladins

NC State begins its home slate 2-0
RALEIGH - The NC State football team improved to 2-1 and 2-0 at home on Saturday, handing Furman (2-1) its first lost of the season in a 45-7 decision.
The Wolfpack totaled 505 yards of offense to Furman's 196, a number that included 218 NC State rushing yards on 31 attempts.
Despite opening the game with a fumble, the Wolfpack held the Paladins to a field goal attempt on their first possession, a 48-yard attempt that kicker Timmy Bleekrode was not able to put through the uprights.
The following possession for the Pack saw Zonovan Knight with a 42-yard run on third down, setting himself up for a six-yard rushing touchdown on the next play. The touchdown put NC State up 7-0.
After a three-and-out on Furman's end, NC State added three points with a 32-yard field goal by Christopher Dunn.
Four touchdowns highlighted the second quarter for the Wolfpack, the most impressive coming in the form a 42-yard pass from Devin Leary to Anthony Smith. NC State went into halftime leading the Paladins 38-0.
Person recorded a rushing touchdown in the third quarter to bring the score to 45-0. Furman got on the board eight minutes later with a 16-yard pass from Hamp Sisson to Ryan Miller.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

After the Wolfpack defense forced Furman's fifth-straight three-and-out, NC State took just under three minutes to record its fourth touchdown of the game. On third down Leary completed an eight-yard toss to Christopher Toudle for a first down. After a set of completed passes to C.J. Riley, Ricky Person, Jr. and Porter Rooks, Leary found Smith downfield for a 42-yard touchdown.
