RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer (0-0-1) will continue its three-game road swing to start the season Sunday when it travels to Old Dominion (1-0-0). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex in Norfolk, Va., and the match will be streamed on C-USA TV ($).
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack traveled to No. 9 Georgetown on Thursday afternoon and earned a 2-2 (2OT) draw at Shaw Field in its season opener.
Jameese Joseph (4') and Jenna Butler (65') were the goal scorers for the Red and White in the contest, while Lulu Guttenberger was credited with the assist on Butler's tally. NC State and Georgetown each recorded 10 shots in the contest, as the Wolfpack put six on target while the Hoyas had just three on frame.
YOUNG, BUT TALENTED
Thursday's lineup consisted of six freshmen who made their first start in a fall match, including five who made their collegiate debuts.
This year's squad boasts 15 freshmen on its roster.
A TOUGH SCHEDULE
Thursday's season opener with the Hoyas was NC State's first of seven teams on its regular-season schedule that were featured in TopDrawerSoccer and United Soccer Coaches' preseason polls.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday will be the 10th meeting between the Wolfpack and Monarchs, as NC State owns a 6-2-1 advantage in the all-time series. The teams last met on Feb. 7, 2021, in Raleigh, and the Pack posted a 2-0 win to open its spring slate.
