Track & Field Programs, Individuals Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The NC State men's and women's track & field programs have both tabbed USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday.
To garner team All-Academic honors, a team must hold at least a 3.0 team GPA on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.

NC State's men's squad registers a 3.218 while the women's team tabs a 3.381.
The Wolfpack additionally secured 18 individual USTFCCCA All-Academic laurels. To earn an individual honor, a student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and additionally must have finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event or in the top 48 in any championship relay event or must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season.
Both teams earned the most single-year individual honors in program history. The men's team tallied six honorees: Joe Bistritz, Joshua Brockman, Hannes Burger, Jamar Davis, Ian Harrison and Cameron Murray. Davis' honors are the third of his career while Bistritz, Brockman, Burger, Harrison and Murray garner the accolades for the first time in their careers
Twelve Wolfpack women were named USTFCCCA All-Academic individuals: Kelsey Chmiel, Michelle Cobb, Ally Henson, Mariah Howlett, Nevada Mareno, Gionna Quarzo, Akira Rhodes, Savannah Shaw, Hannah Steelman, Katelyn Tuohy, Anna Vess and Julia Zachgo.
Mareno and Shaw receive their third honors while Chmiel, Cobb and Zachgo tab their second. Henson, Howlett, Quarzo, Rhodes, Tuohy and Vess. Steelman's accolades are her second in her career and her first as a member of the NC State program.Â
