
Shanklin Posts School Record in NCAA Championships 5,000m

EUGENE, Ore. - The NC State men's track & field program concluded NCAA Championships action on Friday with the 5000m final.
Ian Shanklin represented the Wolfpack in the event, running a 13:23.48 that was a personal best by almost 25 seconds. The Greensboro, N.C., native's impressive performance additionally bested the school record by almost three seconds.
His time was good for a ninth-place finish and earned him Second Team All-America accolades in the event, marking the second time in his career that Shanklin has garnered All-America recognition in the outdoor 5000m. It additionally was an Olympic Trials qualifying mark for the redshirt junior.
