No. 23 #Pack9 Walks Off No. 9 Florida State In Series Opener

RALEIGH – Luca Tresh belted a two a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth with one out to help No. 23 NC State baseball (27-14, 18-13 ACC) earn a 6-4 win over No. 9 Florida State (28-20, 19-15 ACC) in walk-off fashion on Thursday evening at Doak Field at Dail Park in the series opener.
The Wolfpack extended its win streak to six, which includes four straight wins over top 20 opponents, and has won 11 of its last 12 games.
Tresh got the scoring started in the second inning when he swung at the first pitch he saw and went deep to left field to lead off the side. In the fourth, Jose Torres and Terrell Tatum got into scoring position after reaching on outfield hits, and a passed ball allowed Torres to score from third to give the Pack a 2-0 lead.
After Tyler McDonough laced a one-out double to left center in the fifth, Jonny Butler belted his 12th long ball of the year to right field to extend the Pack's lead to 4-0. He is tied for the lead among the squad in homers, and it was his sixth in nine games.
Florida State's Logan Lacey hit a two-out grand slam in the seventh inning to tie the score up at four. Two innings later, Butler led off with a double in the ninth and then Tresh hit his second homer of the night to center field and help the Pack walk it off. He is the third Wolfpack player to reach double-digit homers this year, as he now has 11 on the season.
