Softball Faces Furman in Midweek Tilt

RALEIGH – NC State concludes its scheduled non-conference play with a midweek doubleheader against Furman, April 21 at 1 p.m. The doubleheader will be featured on ACCNX.
Attendance at NC State softball events remains limited to player and staff guests only.
NC State (22-13) enters the week coming off a solid outing against #15 LSU, which included a 3-1 victory in the series opener. The Wolfpack's second top-25 win of the season came on a three-run blast by Logan Morris. Abby Trahan secured the game with a seven-inning complete game in the circle, allowing just one run on three hits with six strikeouts. Trahan has both ranked wins in the circle for NC State this season.
The win also marked the first time since 2016 NC State has defeated a ranked team multiple teams, as NC State reaches a stretch that will include 12-straight games against ranked opponents to conclude its ACC schedule.
#HOMERUNMINDSET
NC State continues to lead the ACC and rank top-15 nationally with 1.60 home runs per game. The Pack has lead the ACC and been top-20 nationally every week since opening its 2021 schedule. As a team, NC State has 54 home runs through 32 games, including 18 games with multiple home runs. With three weeks left in the regular season, NC State's total ranks eighth all-time at NC State.
Randi Farricker continues to lead the ACC with a conference best 13 home runs this season.

NC State has a 20-7 record this season inside Dail Softball Stadium and has played 28 of the team's 35 games at home this season, including the opening 18 games of the schedule. The Wolfpack has had a winning record at home the last two-straight seasons.
A LOOK AT FURMAN
A young Furman (13-20) team enters the week looking to extend its three-game win streak that saw the Paladins sweep conference opponent ETSU last weekend. 14 of Furman's 21 players on its roster are underclassmen, with a true freshman, Siera Tufts, leading the team in the pitching circle.
Tufts has a team-best 3.69 ERA with a bulk amount of the team's innings, 85.1, and the most strikeouts (36), she also leads the team with six wins.
On the offensive side of the ball, Emily Bartlett leads Furman with a .343 batting average while Mackense Greico has a team-high seven home runs. Furman ranks second in the SoCon with 0.88 home runs per game and 29 on the season.

Furman and NC State have met once prior in program history, with the Paladins taking the 4-1 win. The two teams met in NC State's inaugural season in 2004 for a neutral site game in Rock Hill, S.C.
