The Wolfpack jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to Jonny Butler's three-run home run and Vojtech Mensik's RBI single with a runner on second. Back-to-back doubles by Austin Murr and Tyler McDonough pushed a run across in the second inning to make it 5-0.
McDonough's two-run blast down the left field line in the fourth inning extended the Pack's lead to seven before Zach McLean's solo shot to left field in the fifth put the Aggies on the board.
NC State plated three more runs on a pair of hits in the sixth, and then the Aggies cut into their deficit with two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth on a passed ball and a pair of RBI groundouts.
