#Pack9 Unable To Hold Off Cardinals In Series Finale

Louisville struck first when a Wolfpack miscue in the second inning plated a run, but the Wolfpack responded in the bottom half as Jose Torres drove in Terrell Tatum with a double to left center.
NC State took its first lead of the weekend in the fifth when it scored a pair of runs on J.T. Jarrett's RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Luca Tresh, and looked to be in control of the game behind a strong outing from starting pitcher Matt Willadsen. The Holly Springs, N.C. native shined in his second start of the year as he went a career-long 6.2 innings and tallied a career-high seven strikeouts while retiring 14 consecutive batters in his outing.
In the seventh Willadsen yielded a home run to Louisville's Alex Binelas, which cut the lead to one, then was relieved by Canaan Silver who managed to produce a groundout to Torres and limit the Cardinals' damage. The Pack looked to answer its half of the inning as it loaded the bases up on two outs via walks, but was unable to push any runs across.
In the eighth Louisville exploded for five runs on six hits, then tacked on a run in the ninth to come from behind and win the game.
