
Women’s Soccer Returns To Action Saturday Against Wake Forest

RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer (4-0-1) returns to action Saturday when it faces Wake Forest (3-6-1) at Dail Soccer Stadium in a nonconference matchup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium, and the match will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
The program will honor seniors Jessica Berlin, Mackenzie Crittenberger, Mikhail Johnson and Hope McQueen prior to kickoff.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will be the 27th meeting between the Wolfpack and Demon Deacons, as Wake Forest owns a 17-7-2 advantage in the all-time series.
The teams last met in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Sept. 19, 2019 and battled to a 1-1 draw.
The record of the last five meetings between the squads stands at 2-2-1, which dates back to 2013.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State passed its first road test of the year as it took down VCU, 2-1, on Feb. 28 at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Va.
VCU's Anna Bagley tallied her second goal of the season in the 44th minute to give her team the one-goal lead heading into the locker room at half time, but goals by Johnson (63rd minute) and Cara Elmendorf (79th minute) kept the Wolfpack undefeated on its season.

Prior to taking the head coaching job at NC State, Tim Santoro spent five seasons on Wake Forest's coaching staff under Tony da Luz. He was an assistant coach from 2008-10, then was elevated to associate head coach in his final two seasons.
THE MORE THE MERRIER
Eight different players on the team have tallied at least one goal or assist this season.
Denae Antoine and Leyah Hall-Robinson lead the way as the team's multi-goal scorers with two apiece, while Jameese Joseph and Toni Starova pace the team with two assists each.
Additionally, Hall-Robinson owns a team-best five points this season.
SCOUTING WAKE FOREST
Wake Forest opened the spring portion of its schedule on March 6 with a 2-0 loss at Tennessee. The squad compiled a 3-5-1 record in the fall portion against a tough conference-only slate.
Sophie Faircloth is the leading goal scorer for the Demon Deacons with three, and she was voted to the ACC All-Freshman Team in the 2020 season. Sofia Rossi and Ryanne Brown are also multi-goal scorers with two apiece, as the three field players account for seven of the team's nine goals.
Wake Forest lost All-ACC honoree Hannah Betfort from the fall, as she was selected by Portland Thorns FC in the 2021 NWSL Draft.
Goalkeepers Madison Howard, Kaitlyn Parks and Mia Raben all returned to this spring's squad, as the trio has split time in goal and compiled a 1.95 goals-against average.
