Baseball Drops Series Opener With Louisville

RALEIGH – NC State baseball (4-7, 1-6 ACC) dropped its series opener with No. 7 Louisville (12-5, 5-2 ACC), 13-1, on Friday evening at Doak Field at Dail Park.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the first inning on Henry Davis's home run and never looked back. The squad plated two or more runs in five of the nine innings and tallied a season-high 16 hits in the contest.
Starting pitcher Michael Kirian took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, but Terrell Tatum and Jose Torres strung back-to-back hits late in the game to help the Wolfpack avoid the shutout. Tyler McDonough additionally hit a leadoff single in the ninth to give the team three on the night.
