
Members of Wolfpack Ready for 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships

RALEIGH - Eight members of the 18th-ranked NC State women's track and field team and one member of the men's team will make the trip to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
All days of competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The nine student-athletes will compete in four events over the course of the three-day meet. Senior Von Douglas will represent the Wolfpack men in the long jump. Redshirt-senior Elly Henes is set to compete in the women's 3000m and 5000m, and Kelsey Chmiel and Hannah Steelman is slated to compete in the 5000m as well. Sam Bush, Alexis Postell, Anna Vess, Henes, Katelyn Tuohy and Savannah Shaw make up NC State's DMR squad.
Three of NC State's four events are set for Friday, Mar. 12. Douglas will compete in the men's long jump at 3 p.m. Henes, Chmiel and Steelman's 5000m race will begin at 9:05 p.m., and the women's DMR will follow at 9:45 p.m.
Henes will be the only member of the team to compete Saturday, Mar. 13. The 3000m race is set for 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State earned multiple All-ACC honors at the ACC Indoor Championships, totaling nine First Team All-ACC laurels and five Second Team All-ACC awards.
Two school records fell at the meet, first in the women's DMR. Bush, Henes, Postell and Vess recorded an 11:07.64 that was the best mark in program history by nearly three seconds. All four student-athletes received First Team All-ACC laurels for the race.
Henes broke not only a school record in the 3000m but also her personal record, the facility record and the meet record. The redshirt senior recorded a 9:00.53 in the event and received First Team All-ACC honors.
Chris Alexander earned First Team All-ACC status in the men's triple jump with a mark of 51'5.75" (15.69m) while Josh Brockman tabbed the honors in the men's 60m hurdles with a 7.81 that was the second-best time in NC State history.
Michelle Cobb posted a First Team All-ACC performance with a 42'10.75" (13.07m) mark in the women's triple jump. Vess' 4:44.22 was good for First Team All-ACC as well.
Douglas' 24'11" (7.59m) long jump earned him Second Team All-ACC honors. Sarah LaTour also garnered the honors after a 4:46.95 run in the women's mile. A pair of NC State's 60m hurdles competitors tabbed Second Team All-ACC status, Cameron Murray (7.91) on the men's side and Akira Rhodes (8.24) on the women's. Savannah Shaw ran a 9:16.65 in the women's 3000m to round out NC State's Second Team honors.

NC State turns its attention to the outdoor track & field season, which is set to begin Mar. 25-27 when the Wolfpack hosts the Raleigh Relays.
