
Henes Earns Podium Finish, Women’s DMR Program Record Falls at NCAA Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. - The NC State track & field teams saw a successful first day at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, competing in three events and collecting six First Team All-American honors on the day.
JUMPS
Von Douglas kicked off action for NC State in the men's long jump. The senior posted a 23'11.5" (7.30m) mark that earned him an 14th-place finish and Second Team All-American honors.
DISTANCE
Three NC State runners competed in the women's 5000m, and redshirt senior Elly Henes led the way for the Wolfpack with a third-place finish. Her time of 15:49.86 was her best of the season and earned her the second First Team All-America laurels of her career in the event.
Hannah Steelman claimed First Team All-American status as well, running a 15:55.65 and finishing in eighth place. Kelsey Chmiel rounded out NC State's 5000m competitors, finishing in 11th place with a time of 16:12.73. Chmiel's finished was good for Second Team All-American honors.
RELAYS
The Wolfpack broke the school record in the women's distance medley relay (DMR), posting an 11:06.14 that was a First Place All-America performance. Katelyn Tuohy, Alexis Postell, Anna Vess and Savannah Shaw each tabbed First Team All-American laurels in the event.

Action continues for NC State at the NCAA Indoor Championships Saturday, Mar. 13 as Henes competes in the women's 3000m at 8 p.m.
