Gymnastics Records Season-High 196.025 in Quad Meet Win

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team hosted its first home meet since Jan. 15 on Saturday, posting its best score of the season in a 196.025. The Wolfpack hosted North Carolina (195.600), Towson (194.475) and Pittsburgh (192.125).
The Wolfpack started the meet off on vault, stringing together a series of solid scores to post its second-highest team score of the season, 48.875. Sophomores Emily Shepard and Chloe Negrete were the highest scorers on the event, posting a 9.825 and a 9.800, respectively.
NC State moved on to bars, and freshman Carina Jordan led off for the Wolfpack with a career-high 9.850. Senior Katie Cox and junior Meredith Robinson each tabbed a 9.825 in the rotation that helped the squad compile a team score of 48.850 on the event.
As NC State moved on to beam, Cox posted career-best 9.825 and was followed by Negrete's 9.800. Nicole Webb anchored the rotation, tabbing a season-high 9.800. As a team, NC State put together a season-best 48.900.
The Wolfpack posted a slew of career-high scores on floor, with all six competitors putting up a career best. The Wolfpack tabbed a season-high 49.400 as a that tied the sixth-best score in program history. Jordan and Cox led off for NC State, and each posted a 9.825.
Webb and Kasey Nelson each recorded a 9.875 on the event and were followed by Shepard's 9.900. Shepard has scored a 9.900 on three events during the Wolfpack's 2021 season (vault, bars, floor). Negrete closed out the meet for the team, tabbing a 9.925 that was her second consecutive 9.9 floor mark.

"Today was super exciting for the entire team," said head coach Kim Landrus. "In our team meeting you could see everyone was so dialed in.
"We're committed to climbing up that next step. We started on vault, and for the entire meet we built. We never let any small obstacle get in our way. Today was a total team effort culminating on floor with the sixth-best score in program history.
"Across the board, floor was amazing. It was really neck-and-neck the whole meet, so to come on floor and put on that show; I couldn't be more proud of them."
