Wolfpack Ties Season-High Bars Score at North Carolina Dual Meet

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team continued 2021 action on Friday, competing in a dual meet at East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) opponent North Carolina. The Wolfpack posted a 195.025 at the meet while the Tar Heels tabbed a 195.300.
The Wolfpack put up a 48.750 on vault, led by Emily Shepard's 9.850. The Olathe, Kan., native's score earned her an individual title in the event.
Sophomore Chloe Negrete earned a podium finish on vault as well, tabbing a 9.800 that placed her in third.
NC State kicked off the meet on bars and tied its season-high team score of 49.050. Shepard was the team's highest scorer on the even, earning a a 9.900 that tied her career best and was her second 9.900 on bars of the season. The mark was additionally good for an individual title.
Senior Katie Cox earned a career-high score on the event with a 9.875, and junior Meredith Robinson closed out the rotation for NC State with a 9.875 that tied her career high. Cox and Robinson tied for second place on the rotationin the rotation.
On beam, Negrete led the way for NC State with a second-place finish and a 9.850. Senior Nicole Webb posted a 9.800 on the apparatus, a score that tied her season high. Freshman Gabrielle Diaz made her debut on the event at the meet, posting a 9.700.
The Wolfpack compiled a 48.250 on floor, its highest scores coming from Shepard and Negrete. Each of the sophomores posted a 9.850 in the event that tied them for third place.
Shepard was the lone all-around competitor for NC State and finished the night with a 38.875.
