GREENSBORO, NC - Graduate student Elly Henes has been ACC Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) office on Wednesday.
The Cary, N.C., native posted an impressive outing at the Virginia Beach Invitational on Feb. 1, recording times in both of her events that check into the top five in the nation.
Henes began the day in the 3000m, running her way to a first-place finish with a time of 9:03.43. The mark was good for the second-fastest in program history as well a personal best. Her time currently sits at the top of the ACC and fourth in the country.
Competition continued for Henes in the 5000m a few hours later, and the graduate student tabbed a 15:49.96 that was second only to teammate Hannah Steelman. The 5K time is also fourth-best in the NCAA and is second-fastest in the ACC.
