Wolfpack to Compete in Tri-Meet at Pittsburgh Sunday

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team continues road action Sunday, Jan. 31 at 4 p.m. as it travels to Pittsburgh for a tri-meet with Towson.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack posted a 194.600 in a tri-meet at Towson with Temple and posted its highest scores of the season on floor (49.150) and vault (48.700).
Sophomores Emily Shepard and Chloe Negrete each recorded a 9.900 on at the meet, Negrete posting the score on vault and Shepard tabbing the mark on bars. It was Negrete's fourth career score of at least 9.900, and the Frisco, Texas, native has now earned a 9.900 or higher on vault, beam and floor.
Shepard was named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week on Jan. 26 after earning three individual titles. Freshman Madison Benson improved her scores on both vault and floor, earning her first-ever EAGL Rookie of the Week honors.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Pittsburgh junior Katie Chamberlain scored a career-best 9.900 on bars in the Panthers' Jan. 24 dual meet with Kent State and was one of two Pittsburgh gymnasts to earn an individual title at the meet. Chamberlain additionally boasts the highest bars average in the EAGL.
NC State has already competed against the EAGL foe once in its 2021 campaign, earning a 194.925-192.850 win.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers hosted the Wolfpack's most recent meet and posted a season-best 194.225, narrowly trailing NC State's 194.600. Towson leads the EAGL on vault with an average of 48.800 and checks into the league floor standings at second, just after NC State. Freshman Allison Zuhlke earned EAGL Co-Rookie of the week on Jan. 19.
UP NEXT
The Wolfpack returns home for its only quad-meet of the season, hosting Pittsburgh, North Carolina and Towson Feb. 6 at 4 p.m.
