RALEIGH, N.C. – Facing its second of three ranked ACC foes in the top-15, the third-ranked NC State wrestling team will make the short drive over to #14 North Carolina Friday night. The dual will take place at 6 p.m. at UNC's Carmichael Arena and be televised on the ACC Network.

NC State has won seven straight duals against the Tar Heels, and each of its last three in Chapel Hill. Head Coach Pat Popolizio is 7-1 all-time vs. UNC, and a win Friday night would set a new school record for most consecutive wins in the series (8).

Last year's dual came down to a winner-takes-all final match. Holding a two-point lead heading into the final bout, Deonte Wilson got a late takedown and scored a 5-2 decision at heavyweight to give #3 NC State a 19-14 win over #8 North Carolina.

Nation's Longest Dual Winning Streak
NC State has started the 2021 season 4-0, this coming off of the first-ever undefeated dual season in school history last year (15-0). Dating back to the 2019 season, the Pack has won 21 straight duals, the longest winning streak in the NCAA (Iowa-15).

A pair of 2020 ACC Champions for the Pack currently hold double digit winning streaks dating back to last season.

Hayden Hidlay has won each of his last 21 matches, and 33 of his last 34 matches overall at 157 pounds. Jakob Camacho has won 11 straight at 125 pounds. It has been over one year since either has taken a collegiate loss - Camacho's was Jan. 24 2020, and Hidlay's was Dec. 7, 2019.

#14 North Carolina is the second of three straight ranked ACC foes the Pack will face on three straight Friday nights. NC State is 28-8 against ranked foes over the last six seasons, with a winning record each season. Even more impressive, NC State is 14-4 in ranked battles outside of Raleigh during that time.
