RALEIGH, N.C. – The #4 NC State Wrestling team will open a stretch of five straight ACC weekend duals by traveling up to Virginia for its first ACC matchup of the season Friday night.

The dual will start at 5 p.m., and be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

The Wolfpack (2-0) opened the 2020-21 season with wins over Gardner-Webb (42-0) and Appalachian State (24-12). NC State won 16 of those 20 bouts, including 11 wins for bonus points.

NC State has won each of the last six duals against Virginia, by a combined score of 163-70. The Pack has won its last three trips up to Charlottesville, the last coming in 2019 (23-17).

Last year in the ACC opener for both teams in Raleigh, the Pack scored a 28-9 win. After UVA won the first bout at 125 pounds, the Wolfpack won seven straight, and won eight of the 10 matches overall.

Nation's Longest Winning Streak
NC State starts ACC action 2-0 in duals thus far, this coming off of the first-ever undefeated dual season in school history last year (15-0). Dating back to the 2019 season, the Pack has won 19 straight duals, the longest winning streak in the NCAA (Iowa-13).

Vying for Fourth Straight ACC Regular Season Title
In 2021, NC State will be looking to capture its fourth straight ACC Dual Championship. Over the last three seasons, NC State has gone 14-1 in ACC duals, winning the regular season title each of the last three years.

NC State has won three straight ACC regular season titles three times in school history (2018-20, 2000-02, 1981-83), but has never won four in a row.

Over the last six seasons, NC State has won 26 of its 28 duals on the road, and the Pack is also 10-2 in road duals vs. ranked foes during that span. Combining in neutral duals, NC State is 36-4 in duals outside of Raleigh dating back to the 2016 season.
