Gymnastics to Travel to Penn State for Quad-Meet

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team travels to University Park, Pa. Feb 29 for a 4 p.m. meet at No. 23 Penn State with Cornell and Towson. The Wolfpack comes off a pair of 196.000 or higher scores after competing on Feb. 21 and Feb. 23.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack recorded a season-best 196.500 in a home meet with William & Mary and Centenary on Feb. 21 and followed the season-high performance with a 196.025 at George Washington with Northern Illinois and Temple on Feb. 23Â .
Senior Drew Grantham earned two 9.925 scores on floor over the weekend, tying her career high and securing first-place finishes in the event at both meets. The Durham, N.C. native was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week on Feb. 25.
Freshman Emily Shepard additionally garnered EAGL Rookie of the Week on Feb. 25 after a career-high bars performance (9.875) on Feb. 21 and multiple podium finishes between the Wolfpack's two meets.
SCOUTING NO. 23 PENN STATE
The Nittany Lions posted a 196.125 in their last meet, competing against Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota on Feb. 22. The score was the third-highest of the season for Penn State as it notched 196.275 in a dual meet with Iowa and a 196.325 against Rutgers.
Penn State recorded a 49.000 or higher in three events on Feb. 22 with a 49.300 on vault, a 49.250 on bars and a 49.250 on floor.
SCOUTING TOWSON
The Tigers posted a 194.725 on Jan. 17 in a quad-meet with West Chester University of Pennsylvania, William & Mary and Cornell to record their highest score of the season. In Towson's most recent meet, the Tigers tabbed a 193.425 as they took on West Virginia, Western Michigan and Bowling Green on Feb. 23.
SCOUTING CORNELL
Cornell's 192.975 at the Ivy Classic Championship on Feb. 23 marked the Big Red's highest score of the season. At the meet, junior Claire Haklik achieved a 9.925 on floor to tie for first place.
UP NEXT
NC State returns to Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum Saturday, March 7 at 4 p.m. for its final home meet of the season, hosting 11th-ranked Minnesota on Senior Day.
