
#Pack9 Closes Eight-Game Home Stand With UNCW Tuesday

RALEIGH – No. 10 NC State baseball (7-0) will close out its eight-game home stand to start the 2020 season Tuesday when it hosts UNCW (6-2) at Doak Field at Dail Park. First pitch is set for 4 p.m., as the contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra and there will be an audio stream on WKNC 88.1 FM.

SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday will be the first of two meetings for the Wolfpack and Seahawks in the 2020 season, and it will be the 91st all-time meeting between the squads. NC State currently owns a 71-19 advantage in the all-time series, and has won the last five contests with UNCW.
The last time the teams met on was April 30, 2019 in Raleigh when the Pack earned an 11-3 win, hitting a season-high four home runs.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State hosted Tennessee Tech last weekend in a three-game series, and collected its seventh consecutive sweep over a nonconference opponent. It also marked the program's 17th-straight series win against a nonconference foe as the Pack improved to 7-0 on the season.
The squad tallied double-digit hits in all three contests en route to 8-2, 10-3 and 15-1 victories. The pitching staff tallied a combined 36 strikeouts on the weekend, including a season-high 15 in the second game with the Golden Eagles.
LEADING THE WAY
Through two weeks of college baseball, NC State currently leads the ACC and ranks among the top 20 in the NCAA in several categories:
-Last season, UNCW finished 32-31 overall and captured its sixth Colonial Athletic Association Championship to earn an automatic NCAA Regional berth.
-UNCW is the 2020 preseason favorite among the CAA, while Cole Weiss, Noah Bridges, Landen Roupp and Zarion Sharpe earned preseason All-CAA Team accolades. Weiss and Bridges earned all-conference honors last year.
-The Seahawks are on a three-game win streak after defeating Bowling Green once and Marshall twice at the Hughes Bros. Challenge last weekend.
-Three players are batting over .300 for the Seahawks, led by Tanner Wells who owns a .400 clip. Bridges leads the team in hits with 13 and Ron Evans paces the squad with three homers and an .864 slugging percentage.
-Roupp owns a 2-0 record on the mound in his two starts and 12 innings pitched, and leads the staff as well as the CAA with 18 strikeouts.
