Sangkapong Leads Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Through Two Rounds

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Senior Mim Sangkapong of the NC State women's golf team has put herself in a prime position heading into the final day of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate after firing rounds of 68 (-5) and 71 (-2) on Monday. She currently leads the 84-player field with a seven-under par 139, as her first round was a career low.
The tournament, hosted by Tulane at English Turn Country Club, was moved to 36 holes on Monday due to poor weather conditions in the area on Sunday.
As a team, the Wolfpack turned in a season-low 287 (-5) in round one and 290 (-2) in round two to sit in second place out of 15 teams with a combined 577 (-7). The squad is just four strokes back from leader No. 10 Florida (573, -11), and three strokes ahead of conference opponent Miami (580, -4).
Monika Hartl and Natalie Armbruester are also among the top 20 of the player standings through the first two rounds at T9th and T15th, in respective order. Hartl turned in a par of 72's (-1) for a combined 144 (-2), marking the seventh and eighth times in her last nine rounds, dating back to Oct 27, 2019, that she has shot an under-par round. Armbruester shot rounds of 73 and 72 for a 145 (-1), as her second round score marks the fifth time this season she has shot a 72.
Additionally, Pilar Berchot and Lea Klimentova are in T40th and T56th, respectively, as Berchot carded a pair of 75's (+3) for a combined 150 (+4) and Klimentova posted rounds of 74 and 79 for a 153 (+77).
Sangkapong and the Wolfpack will look to claim the tournament title Tuesday in a 9 a.m. ET shotgun start.
