The weekend marks the 16th consecutive series win over a nonconference opponent since 2012, as well as the Wolfpack's sixth-straight series sweep over a nonconference foe dating back to the 2018 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Pack struck first thanks to Devonte Brown's 2-RBI single to left field in the first inning. Prior to his at bat, Austin Murr and Tyler McDonough drew walks, then pulled off the double steal to start the threat.
-James Madison got on the board in the second when Fox Semones reached on a one-out hit-by-pitch, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout, then scored on DaVonn Griffin's base hit to left field.
-NC State answered in the bottom frame when Jose Torres ripped an RBI double to left field, scoring Matt Willadsen after he drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on J.T. Jarrett's sacrifice bunt.
-The Pack tacked on three runs in the third thanks to bases-loaded RBI singles from Matt Willadsen and J.T. Jarrett, as well as an RBI fielder's choice by Torres.
-In the fourth, Brown's 2-RBI double to center field scored Patrick Bailey and McDonough after they got on base and stole second and third. Brown then scored on Jonny Butler's single to right center.
-With runners at second and third with two outs in the sixth, CJ Neese stepped up and knocked in a run in his first collegiate at bat.
-McDonough brought Jarrett home from third with a single to left field after he doubled to left field and advanced to third on a groundout.
-JMU scored its only other run of the game late in the ninth. The Dukes managed to put runners on via a walk and double with no outs, and brought the run across on Chase DeLauter's RBI groundout to Torres at short.
QUICK HITS
-Brown and Butler both went 3-for-4 on the day, each hitting a pair of singles and a double. It was Brown's third-straight and Butler's second-straight multi-hit outing of the year.
-McDonough and Jarrett also turned in multi-hit performances, each hitting a double and a single apiece.
-As a team, the Pack stole seven bases, led by McDonough with a career-high three.
-Brown drove in a career-high four RBIs, while Torres also had a multi-RBI outing with two.
-Five different pitchers contributed to the result, and Dalton Feeney was credited with the win on the mound. He went 3.1 innings in relief and did not allow a run to score.
