Pack Heads South for 28th-Annual Puerto Rico Classic

RALEIGH, NC – The NC State men's golf team returns to action Sunday when it begins play at Puerto Rico Classic held at the Rio Mar Beach Beach and Spa Resort's River Course in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
The 54-hole event begins Sunday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The teams will play 18 holes every day with the final round being held on Tuesday.
Last Time Out
Benjamin Shipp started off the spring schedule with his third-consecutive top-10 finish as the NC State senior finished in a tie for eighth-place at the Sea Best Invitational. Shipp has now played 11 consecutive rounds at even-par or better. Easton Paxton was next for the Pack in a tie for 22nd place and Christian Salzer finished in 32nd place as NC State finished in sixth place in the 14 team field.
Fall Recap
The Pack played four tournaments in the fall, highlighted by winning its home tournament, the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, for the third consecutive season. Christian Salzer leads the team with a 70.25 average. The Sumter, S.C., native shot a 12-under par 204 to finish in second place of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. Benjamin Shipp is next for the Pack with a 70.64 stroke average. Shipp finished the season with consecutive top-10 performances and has shot under-par in eight consecutive rounds.
