A WIN ON SUNDAY WOULD...
• Be the 946th win in program history (945-471)
• Be head coach Wes Moore's 728th career win (727-231)
• Be Moore's 170th win at NC State (169-62)
• Be NC State's 38th straight home victory over a non-conference opponent
• Be the Wolfpack's 11th straight 2-0 start to a season
NOTING THE WOLFPACK (1-0)
• Ranked eighth by the AP, sixth by USA Today and seventh by ESPN
• Returning nine players and four starters from last season's squad that went 28-4 overall and won the ACC Tournament
• All-American and First Team All-ACC honoree Elissa Cunane is among the Pack's returners after leading NC State in scoring (16.4, 524 total points), rebounding (9.6), field-goal percentage (.547) and blocks (35) in 2019-20
• Added graduate transfer Raina Perez and freshmen Genesis Bryant, Rebecca Demeke and Dontavia Waggoner to the roster
• Selected to finish second in the ACC this season behind Louisville
STRONG START
After 261 days since its last competition and its 2020 ACC Tournament title win, NC State returned to the hardwood on Nov. 25 for its season opener against the North Florida Ospreys. NC State cruised to the 93-65 victory inside Reynolds Coliseum, posting its most points in a game since a 94-52 home win over Morgan State on Nov. 18, 2013.
The Pack put together a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures and assists on 20 of its 38 made baskets. Guard Kai Crutchfield led the way with a team-high 21 points in her senior debut that was just two shy of her personal best scoring performance.
Bryant, Demeke, Elle Sutphin and Waggoner all made their collegiate debuts, with Waggoner leading the freshmen class with seven points on 3-of-4 shooting.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES (1-0)
• Posted a 13-17 overall record in 2019-20 for its best season since joining Division I women's basketball
• Returning 10 players from last season's squad but lost its leading scorer in forward Paulina Afriyie
• Senior guard Kieche White and sophomore forward Anissa Rivera selected to the Preseason All-MEAC Team after combining to average nearly 30 points per game last season
• Won season opener 70-65 against Campbell on Nov. 25 in a double overtime thriller
• 0-10 all-time record against nationally-ranked opponents
SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 1-0)
• Sunday marks just the second meeting between the Wolfpack and the Eagles.
• The teams met for their first matchup on Dec. 14, 2016 inside Reynolds Coliseum, with the Pack coasting to the 83-33 victory over North Carolina Central.
• The game marked the fewest points that NC State had allowed in a single game since 2006.
STRENGTH IN THE PACK
Since the renovation of Reynolds Coliseum was completed in August 2016, NC State has put together a 61-9 mark when playing on Kay Yow Court. That record includes 37 consecutive victories over non-conference opponents and 24 out of 33 possible league wins.
1K CUNANE
With a backdoor layup off of an assist from Raina Perez, Cunane reached the 1,000 career point milestone in the first game of her junior campaign. After the 2019-20 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the junior center needed just 12 points to reach 1,000 and hit that exact number in the first half of the Wolfpack's win over North Florida.
Cunane became the ninth active ACC player, the only active junior in the conference and the 35th player in program history to reach the milestone. It took her just 67 career games and 43 career starts.
BOYD MAKING MOVES
Jada Boyd made her first career start on Nov. 25. With her insertion into the lineup, Moore moved senior forward Kayla Jones to the three to let Boyd's athleticism and speed see more time on the floor.
With her 15-point, 10-rebound double-double, Boyd found double figures for the third game in a row after ending her freshman campaign with a pair of 10+ point outings in the final two games of the ACC Tournament. In her 32-game career, Boyd has now shot 50 percent or better from the field in 12 games in which she attempted at least four shots.
