
Sangkapong Fires Career-Low 69 In Final Round Of Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. – Senior Mim Sangkapong of the NC State women's golf team fired a career-low three-under par 69 on Tuesday in the final round of the Cougar Classic, hosted by College of Charleston at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C.
She guided the Wolfpack to a 14th-place finish out of 17 teams after the squad posted a final round score of 294 (+6) en route to a 20-over par 884 (+20) for the tournament.
No. 7 Vanderbilt captured the team title with a 27-under 837, while No. 9 Wake Forest (838, -26) and No. 8 Florida (840, -26) rounded out the podium. Vanderbilt's Austin Kim collected medalist honors with a combined 16-under par 200 (65-69-66).
As a result of her career outing on Tuesday, Sangkapong also posted a career-best 54-hole score of 217 (+1) to finish in a tie for 29th out of 93 players in the field. She jumped 20 spots up the leaderboard from Monday and carded six birdies.
Lea Klimentova and Inja Fric finished in a tie for 60th, as Klimentova shot a six-over 78 and Fric posted a one-over 73 for her best round of the tournament. Monika Hartl and Pilar Berchot each turned in a four-over par 76 in the final round of action, as Hartl finished in a tie for 71st and Berchot settled in a tie for 73rd among the individual standings.
The Wolfpack returns to action Sept. 23-25 when it travels to the GolfWeek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colo., hosted by Red Sky Golf Club.
