Hartl Fires 69 In Opening Round Of Golfweek Conference Challenge

WOLCOTT, Colo. – Junior Monika Hartl of the NC State women's golf team fired a team-best 69 (-3) on Monday in the first round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge. She was one of 10 individuals among the 96-player field to shoot in the 60's in the first round at Red Sky Golf Club's Fazio Course in Wolcott, Colo., as she paced the Wolfpack to a nine-over par 297.

NC State is in 11^th place out of 18 teams in the tournament. Ole Miss and Pepperdine, who are both receiving votes for the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) national poll, are in a tie for first place as both squads carded a seven-under 281. Host Denver is in third place with a 283.

Inja Fric matched her best round of the season with a one-over 73, while Natalie Armbruester carded a five-over 77 in her collegiate debut. Additionally, Lea Klimentova shot a 78 (+6) and Pilar Berchot turned in an eight-over par 80 to round out the Wolfpack's scoring.

NC State will continue competition in Colorado Tuesday, as it will tee off hole 10 between 11:55 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (ET), with competitors from UCLA and SMU.
