Pack Competes at Penn Relays, Tom Jones Memorial on Friday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. and Gainesville, Fla. – The NC State track and field team concluded competition at the Penn Relays and began competition at the Tom Jones Memorial on Friday.
The Pack hit five ACC Outdoor Championship qualifying marks and recorded eight top-15 finishes between the two meets.
Jumps: The Pack took home a pair of top-15 finishes in the men's long jump competition at the Tom Jones Memorial. Jamar Davis jumped his way to a 23'10.25" (7.27m) mark, good for seventh place, and Von Douglas jumped his way to a 22'10.75" (6.98m) mark, good for 13th place.
Davis' mark exceeded the ACC Outdoor Championship qualifying standard (7.08m). He has hit the conference mark in every meet he has competed in.
Janel Pate once again jumped for a top-10 school mark, recording a 19'0" (5.79m) jump on her third attempt. Teammate Javonne Antoine jumped her way to a 18'9.75" (5.73m) mark, also good for top-10 status in program history.
Sprints: Gabriele Cunningham notched a top-10 time in program history in the women's 200m dash at the Tom Jones Memorial. The Charlotte, N.C., native clocked in at 23.65, outrunning the ACC Outdoor Championship 200m dash qualifying standard. Professional runners took five of the top 10 spots in the race.
On the men's side, Cravont Charleston (20.91), Quashawn Cunningham (21.00), and Shannon Patterson (21.29) finished the 200m dash in faster fashion than the conference championship qualifying mark (21.35) to finish fourth, seventh, and 15th respectively. Charleston's and Cunningham's performances registered as top-10 finishes, and Junpai Dowdy set a personal-best with a 21.59 mark.
Throws: Tyson Fortenberry threw his way to a top-15 finish in the men's discus throw on Friday for the fourth time this season with a 154'8" (47.16m) mark at the Penn Relays.
