Pack Opens Play Sunday at Bandon Dunes Championship

RALEIGH, NC – The NC State men's golf team competes in its third spring competition of the season when it starts play Sunday at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Ore.
The three-round, par 72 tournament played from the black tees at the Bandon Dunes Course. The first round starts Sunday with an 8:30 am shotgun start. The NC State lineup will tee off of holes 4-8.

NC State finished fourth at the Puerto Rico Classic two weeks ago. Junior Benjamin Shipp finished with co-medalist honors to lead the Pack. It was the second individual title of the year and third of his career for the Duluth, Ga., native.
Spring Review
The Pack opened the spring season with a fifth-place finish out of 14 teams at the Sea Best Invitational in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Stephen Franken led the Pack with his 15th career top-10 finish, leading the Pack with a fourth place finish on the individual leaderboard.
Fall Review
In four fall tournaments, NC State won the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in October, took home second at the prestigious Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, with only defending National Champion Oklahoma finishing ahead of the Pack and had a fourth place finish at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in another loaded field.
The Pack was led by senior Stephen Franken and junior Benjamin Shipp in the fall. Both players rank in the top-10 in the ACC in stroke average with Franken at 69.3 and Shipp at 68.8. Franken had two top-five finishes in the fall, while Shipp matched Franken with two top-five finishes, including earning medalist honors at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
The Pack finished the fall with a final Golfweek ranking of 22nd.
