
Wolfpack In Second Place After Opening Round Of Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Led by under-par rounds from seniors India Clyburn and Laura Kowohl, the NC State women's golf team opened competition on Friday at the Bryan National Collegiate with a three-under par 285 to stand in second place out of 18 teams.
All four contributors to the Wolfpack's total on Friday are currently in the top 16 of the individual standings.
Held at the Champions Course at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, N.C., Clyburn fired a three-under par 69 and Kowohl shot a two-under 70, and their rounds tie their lowest mark for the 2018-19 season. The pair posted a combined eight birdies on the day, as Clyburn is in fourth place out of 96 players and Kowohl is one spot back in a tie for fifth.
As a team, the Wolfpack is in second place among a field that features seven top 50 teams, and five of those ranked squads are in the ACC. Co-host No. 12 Wake Forest currently paces the field with a 14-under par 274.
Friday marks the second time NC State has posted an 18-hole score of 285 this season, and it's the seventh-lowest single round score in program history.
Naomi Ko and Mim Sangkapong additionally contributed strong scores, as they each turned in a one-over par 73 and share a tie for 16th. Monika Hartl, who is competing as an individual, shot a two-over 74 and is in a tie for 25th.
Lea Klimentova rounded out the Pack's scoring on Friday with a six-over 78, as she is in a tie for 64th in the individual standings.
NC State will continue competition Saturday in Browns Summit, N.C., as it will tee off hole one between 10:00 and 10:36 a.m. with Wake Forest and North Carolina.
