Evans, Henes Named ACC Performers of the Week

Pack Garners two conference honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Lauren Evans and Elly Henes have been named ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week and ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Out-throwing her own shot put school record, Evans collected two wins at the Virginia Tech Elite. She recorded a 55'3.75" (16.86m) mark in shot put competition and a 67'2.75" (20.49m) mark in weight throw competition. Evans has placed on the podium in all 12 events she has competed in this season, including 10 first-place finishes.

Henes clocked a converted time of 9:01.72 in the women's 3000m, the fastest in the nation among qualifying times, at the Camel City Elite in Winston Salem, N.C., this past weekend. She was the first collegian in the race to finish, placing fifth.

The NC State men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, Feb. 8 and at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., Feb. 8-9.
