Â
Last Time Out
In its last outing, the Wolfpack overcame an early four-run deficit to defeat No. 19 Coastal Carolina in extra innings, 7-6. Trailing 6-2, NC State scored four runs in the fifth to knot the score at six and the game remained tied until Patrick Bailey hit a go-ahead home run in the 11th.

Campbell earned a 9-5 win against Georgetown in its most recent game on Sunday.
Â
The Series
The Wolfpack leads the all-time series against the Camels, 50-16-1, including a pair of wins versus the squad last season.
Â
Last Time Versus Campbell
Campbell slipped past NC State in the last meeting between the programs, as the Camels hit a go-ahead homer in the top of the ninth to win the contest held at Doak Field at Dail Park, 5-4.
Â
The game was tightly contested and well-pitched on both sides, but Campbell was able to hand NC State its first and only midweek loss of 2018.
Â
Last Time at Campbell
Brock Deatherage scored three runs the last time the two teams met in Buies Creek to lead NC State to a 4-1 win on March 7, 2018. Then freshman Evan Justice earned his second win of the season with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief and classmate Reid Johnston pitched the ninth to record his third save.
Â
A total of six pitchers saw action in the game for the Wolfpack and held the Camels to seven hits (one for extra bases) and did not allow an earned run.
Â
The Rundown on Campbell
- Campbell turned in a strong 2018 season, winning the Big South Championship to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Fighting Camels return five starters from last year's squad, including Big South Preseason Player of the Year Matthew Barefoot.
- Campbell leads the conference with 49 runs scored, averaging seven runs per game.
- They also have speed on the base paths, as the Camels rank 10th in the NCAA with 19 stolen bases to lead the Big South.
Â
The Pitching Matchup
NC State's Alec Barger will make his first start on the mound for the Wolfpack Wednesday evening. The Savoy, Ill., native is in his first season with the Pack after transferring into the program from Polk State Community College.
Â
He has made two relief appearances this season and has a 1-0 record to go along with a 0.00 ERA, as he picked up the win in game two of the Buknell Series.
Â
For Campbell, junior right-handed pitcher Seth Johnson gets the baseball to make his second appearance and second start of the season. Last week, he started against ECU and threw four shutout innings with five strikeouts. He didn't get credited with the win, but the Camels went on to beat the Pirates, 7-6.
Â
Leap in the Rankings
Following NC State's perfect 4-0 week, highlighted by a win against No. 19 Coastal Carolina, the Wolfpack has leaped 12 spots in the Collegiate Baseball Rankings from No. 22 to No. 10.
Â
29 in a Row
From the Elon to the Michigan State games last week, Wolfpack pitching threw 29 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. Additionally, NC State did not allow an extra-base hit in the last 25 innings of that stretch.
Â

Â
Nothing Free
Wolfpack pitchers have issued the fewest walks per nine innings in the ACC, allowing just 2.42 walks per contest.
Â
Hot Start for Wilson
