Wolfpack Opens Indoor Season at Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, JDL Kick-Off Classic

RALEIGH -- The NC State track and field team is set to open its indoor season Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener (Boston, Mass.) and JDL Kick-Off Classic (Winston-Salem, N.C.).

NC State sends distance runners Elijah Moskowitz and Kelsey Chmiel to represent the Wolfpack in the men's and women's 5k races, while Elly Henes is set to run unattached in Boston.

Throwers and multi-event competitors head to the JDL Kick-Off Classic. Tyson Fortenberry and Jaylen Spellman are entered in weight throw, and Fortenberry will also compete in shot put. In shot put and weight throw on the women's side, Kayla Beasley and Jersey Harris will represent the Pack, while Beasley is also entered in weight throw. All-ACC performer Timara Chapman is entered in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, high jump and 200m dash.

2018 INDOOR REWIND:
Last season the squad collected seven All-America citations at the NCAA Indoor Championships, earning the status in every event it competed in. Three of the 2019 indoor All-Americans return for the Pack this season.
The men's team finished third at the ACC Indoor Championships last season, its best finish since 2011. The women's sixth-place finish marked its best since 2015.

The men recorded seven first team all-conference honors by five individuals, which is the most male individuals to earn first-team accolades for the program since 2003 when the Pack collected nine at the ACC Championships. The women had four competitors earn first-team status, the most since 2014.Â

Of NC State's three 2019 ACC Indoor Champions, Ian Shanklin (5000m) is the sole returner.
