Wolfpack Falls To Tar Heels In ACC Championship Semifinal

CARY, N.C. – No. 23 NC State women's soccer dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 3 North Carolina on Friday evening in the ACC Championship semifinal at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
The Wolfpack falls to 10-6-4 while the Tar Heels, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, improve to 18-1-1 on the season.
Alessia Russo (8' and 89') and Rachel Jones (75') scored the goals for the Heels, and Isabel Cox was credited with the assist on two of the three.
The Pack was limited to two shots in the match. Jameese Joseph's strike from inside the box in the first half was blocked, while Tziarra King's shot on frame in the second half was saved.
Goalkeeper Jessica Berlin made eight saves in the contest, which is a career best for the junior.
NC State will now await its fate for the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will be held Nov. 11 at 4:30 p.m. on the NCAA.com.
