
Women’s Soccer To Face Arkansas Thursday In NCAA Second Round

RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer's run in the NCAA Tournament continues Thursday when it faces third-seeded Arkansas at South Stadium on the campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. The match is set for 5 p.m. ET and will be streamed on the WCC Network.
SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will be the fourth meeting in program history between the Wolfpack and Razorbacks, as NC State owns a 2-1-0 advantage in the all-time series.
The teams last met in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Nov. 11, and the Wolfpack earned a 4-1 win.
LAST TIME OUT
Thanks to a complete performance and three second-half goals, NC State sailed past Navy, 3-0, on Friday evening in the NCAA First Round at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C. The Pack outshot the Mids, 17-1, and won nine corners while controlling possession for a majority of the 90 minutes.
Lulu Guttenberger, Leyah Hall-Robinson and Anna Toohey were responsible for the three second-half goals.
GUTTENBERGER NAMED TO TOPDRAWERSOCCER'S TEAM OF THE WEEK
Guttenberger was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week on Tuesday morning, marking the second weekly award of the season for the Velburg, Germany native.
In the Packs's win vs. Navy on Friday, she scored what was eventually the game-winning goal in the 54th minute. She was additionally credited with the assist on Leyah Hall-Robinson's goal in the 75th minute after bending in a corner kick to the six-yard box.
NC STATE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The program is 13-12-6 all-time with 15 total appearances in the NCAA Tournament, and has moved forward out of the first round 12 times. The Pack has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen twice in the last three years (2016, '18), and went to the NCAA Second Round in 2017.
SCORING FIRST
NC State owns an 8-1-3 record when scoring first in a game. Likewise, the team is 9-0-0 when tallying two or more goals in a single contest.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS
The Razorbacks, who are ranked eighth in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, advanced to the finals of the SEC Championship and fell to South Carolina, 1-0.
Arkansas defeated North Texas, 3-0, in the NCAA First Round on Nov. 15 at home to advance to the second round.
Anna Podojil leads the team with 14 goals and 35 points, while Parker Goins has also reached double digits in goals with 10. Five other players on the roster are multi-goal scorers.
Katie Lund has played a majority of time in goal for the Razorbacks, as she has compiled a .41 goals-against average and tallied 13 shutouts on the year.
