The Duo Won Five Consecutive Matches to Claim the Crown
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Top-ranked Anna Rogers and Alana Smith were crowned the 2019 ITA Carolin Regional doubles champions on Sunday, securing their spot at the ITA Fall National Championships in Newport Beach, Calif., starting on Nov. 6.
The title marks the program's first at the tournament.
Rogers and Smith battled for the hardware as the final match was a 6-4, 6-2 decision.
The pair collected its third ranked win of the season to advance to the finals, defeating 23rd-ranked Mary Caroline Meredith and Eliza Omirou (Wake Forest).
The All-American duo went undefeated at the tournament in doubles competition, rattling off five consecutive wins to claim the title.
