RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer picked up three more points in conference play on Sunday afternoon as it earned a dominant 3-0 win over Notre Dame at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
Seniors Ricci Walkling and Tziarra King tallied two of the three goals in the Senior Day victory, helping the Wolfpack improve to 8-5-4 (3-2-4 ACC) on the year. Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish move to 9-6-2 (3-4-2 ACC) overall.
Goalkeeper Jessica Berlin made a career high seven saves in the team's fifth shutout of the season.
Walkling netted her second goal of the season in the 16th minute. Maxine Blackwood's quality try ricocheted off the cross bar into Tziarra King's possession, who passed to Walkling at the top of the box. She slotted the shot to the near left post.
One minute and 24 seconds later, Jameese Joseph found the back of the net to double the Pack's lead. Lulu Guttenberger's long ball found her on the right side, and Joseph's strike from the right side of the penalty box finished to the near post.
King added the insurance goal in the 77th minute as Jaiden Thomas headed a ball to her from midfield at the top of the 18', and she beat out a Notre Dame defender and Littman inside the box. Her low strike finished to the bottom corner of the net for her 12th goal of the year.
NC State will conclude its regular season schedule Thursday when it travels to No. 12 Louisville. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Lynn Stadium, and the match will be broadcast on Regional Sports Networks (check local listings).
