Kowohl, Overbey Among Top 25 After Opening Round Of San Francisco Regional

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Laura Kowohl and Cecily Overbey fired rounds of 71 (-1) and 72, respectively, in the opening round of the NCAA San Francisco Regional on Monday afternoon at TPC Harding Park. Kowohl is tied for 10th out of 96 players and Overbey is T25th to pace the No. 33 NC State women's golf team in postseason play.
Kowohl turned in her sixth under-par round of the season and Overbey carded her fourth round of even par or better this year.
As a team the Wolfpack shot an eight-over par 296 and is tied for 11th out of 18 teams with No. 9 South Carolina. No. 1 UCLA currently sits atop the team leaderboard with an eight-under 280, while No. 16 Kent State and No. 26 Colorado are tied for second with a 284 (-4) to round out the top three.
India Clyburn opened NCAA Regional play with a two-over par 74, while Mim Sangkapong is T83rd with a seven-over 79 and Naomi Ko shot 80 to sit in a tie for 88th.
The Pack will continue play Tuesday at the NCAA San Francisco Regional, teeing off hole one between 11:05 and 11:45 a.m. ET with No. 17 Oklahoma State and South Carolina.
