
Softball Wraps Up Road Swing Wednesday At ECU

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team will wrap up a four-game road swing Wednesday when it travels to East Carolina for its final midweek game of the season. First pitch is 5 p.m. at the ECU Softball Stadium and the game will be streamed on the Pirates All-Access channel.
The Wolfpack enters the matchup with a 22-25 record and the Pirates are 21-26 this season.
Last Time Out
The Pack traveled to Syracuse last weekend for a three-game series and suffered a sweep. The teams played a doubleheader on Saturday, as the Red and White fell 3-1 and 2-0, and dropped the series finale 7-0 on Sunday at Skytop Softball Stadium.
All-Time Series
Wednesday will mark the 20th time the teams have met in program history, as NC State leads the all-time series 12-7. The teams last met on March 22, 2016, in Raleigh, and the Pirates won 7-4.
Pack Youth
So far this season NC State's underclassmen have combined for 69 percent of the team's hits (215 of 310) and 70 percent of the team's runs (126 of 179).
25 of the team's 31 homers this year have been hit by underclassmen, as Chandley Garner leads the squad with eight while turning in a team-best nine multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games
The underclassmen have made a combined 345 out of a possible 470 starts.
Extra-Base Hits
The Pack has hit 52 doubles and seven triples this season. The team's seven triples is fifth all-time for most in a season while the squad currently ranks ninth all-time for most doubles in a season.
Jade Caraway has hit two triples this season and holds seven in her career to rank second all-time for career triples. She's three away from tying the school record of 10 and four from breaking it.
Final Stretch
After Wednesday's contest in Greenville, NC State will play its final six games of the regular season at home. The Pack will host UNCG April 28-29 and close out its conference schedule May 4-6 with Florida State.

The Pirates are coming off of a series win over American Athletic Conference foe USF, who was receiving votes for the top 25 of the national polls last week. After dropping the opener 7-3, the Pirates bounced back and won the final games 3-2. ECU has also won six of its last eight games.
Tyler King leads the team offensively with a .289 batting average and 46 hits, while Meredith Burroughs paces the squad with 13 homers and 31 RBI. As a team ECU is batting .235, averaging 6.02 hits and 3.29 runs per game.
The pitching staff holds a 3.50 ERA, averaging 3.92 strikeouts per game. Erin Poepping has thrown 128.1 innings, the most among the squad, and holds an 11-12 record with a 3.49 average. Whitney Sanford owns the second-most wins with eight, as she owns a 3.61 ERA in 114.1 innings pitched.
