COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Elly Henes and Gabriele Cunningham wrapped up their indoor track and field seasons with All-American performances at the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday night. Each runner earned the honors in their first appearance at the national meet.Â
Henes, who became an All-American at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in the fall, added the first track and field All-America honors of her Wolfpack career with her 5,000m performance. The NCAA Indoor Championships capped off a successful indoor season for the Wolfpack sophomore during which she became the owner of the program record in the event. Henes placed seventh with a time of 16:00.80 in the final and was named First Team All-America.
Cunningham competed in the semifinals of the 60m hurdles, an event in which she holds the school record. The Wolfpack junior clocked an 8.21 to place seventh in her heat and 15th overall, earning All-America honors for the first time in her NC State career as she landed a spot on the Second Team. Cunningham became just the second in NC State women's track and field history to gain All-American status in the event.Â
NC State will conclude action at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday as Joshua Davis competes in the weight throw beginning at 3 p.m. EST.
