RALEIGH, N.C. - Gabriele Cunningham, Joshua Davis, and Elly Henes are set to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium in College Station, Texas.
Cunningham (60m hurdles), Davis (weight throw), and Henes (5,000m) will represent the NC State track and field teams after qualifying for the championship meet by posting top-16 national marks in their respective events.
Davis will represent the men's team to conclude his record-breaking indoor season. He enters the meet with the nation's top mark of 78' 2.25" (23.83m), and a win on Saturday would make him NC State's first national champion in the weight throw. The redshirt senior made program history in 2016 when he became the first All-American men's weight thrower from NC State. Last season, he became just the sixth men's thrower in NC State track and field history to earn at least two All-America honors.
Cunningham heads to the NCAA Championships with a time of 8.05 in the 60m hurdles, the fastest mark in the event in NC State track and field history. This weekend will mark the first appearance by Cunningham at the national championships. The Wolfpack junior has already seen great success at NC State, as she not only holds the program record in the 60m hurdles but also in the 60m dash.Â
Henes enters her first appearance at the national meet with the third-best 5,000m mark in the nation at a converted time of 15:36.67. That mark gave her possession of the school record and earned her ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week honors. Henes, a sophomore at NC State, will look to add to her list of honors, as she is already a cross country All-American and an ACC Champion in the 3,000m.Â
