
Pack Takes Third At LSU Tiger Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. – Led by four top 25 individual finishes the NC State women's golf team finished in a tie for third out of 12 teams at the LSU Tiger Classic on Sunday in Baton Rouge, La. The Wolfpack turned in a combined team score of 296 (+8) in the final round, its best score of the weekend, to finish the tournament with a 917 (+53).
Held at The University Cub, host LSU took the team title with a 902 (+38), while Houston finished runner up with a 904 and Virginia shared third place with the Pack. This is the team's fourth top five finish of the year and third of the spring.
India Clyburn, Naomi Ko, Cecily Overbey and Monika Hartl all finished among the top 20 of the player standings. Clyburn and Ko shot 74 (+2) on the final day to finish the tournament with scores of 227 (+11) and 230, in respective order. Clyburn finished T12th while Ko finished 15th.
Overbey and Hartl, who competed as an individual, both turned in a 75. They finished in a tie for 16th overall with a three-day score of 231 (+15). Mim Sangkapong shot the low score among the team on Sunday with a one-over 73, and finished T25th with a 234 (+18) for the best showing of her Wolfpack career.
Laura Kowohl rounded out the Wolfpack's lineup as she shot 77 (+5) to finish T31st with a 235.
NC State returns to action April 6-8 when it heads to Browns Summit, N.C., for the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park Golf Course.
