
Franken’s 65 Leads Pack to Third Place Finish at Chris Schenkel Invitational

Final Results
STATESBORO, GA. – NC State men's golf junior Stephen Franken shot a seven-under par 65 on Sunday – the lowest round of any competitor in the three round tournament – to help the Pack move up two spots to a third place finish at the Chris Schenkel Invitational held at the Forest Heights Country Club.
Franken entered the final round with a two-round score of four-under par and in a tie for ninth place, but quickly rocketed up the leaderboard as the Raleigh native birdied holes 2, 3, five and seven to go out in four-under par. Franken made consecutive birdies on holes 11 and 12 and closed out the round with a birdie on 18 to finish the final round with seven birdies and zero bogeys.
Franken finished in a tie for second on the individual leaderboard with Georgia Southern's Archer Price and Jake Storey. Vanderbilt's Theo Humphrey won the individual title by two shots with a three-round score of 13-under par.
The Pack shot a six-under par 282 on Sunday for the second consecutive day. NC State moved up two spots from fifth place at the start of the final round to finish in third place. Vanderbilt won the tournament by eight shots over host school Georgia Southern. Mississippi State finished fourth and Kentucky was fifth.
Freshman Easton Paxton shot his best round of the tournament on Sunday as the Wyoming native carded a one-under par 71 to finish in a tie for 48th place with a score of three-over par for the tournament.
Benjamin Shipp and Nolan Mills Jr. both shot one-over par 73 in the final round for the Pack. Mills Jr., finished the tournament in a tie for 12th place with a three round score of three-under par, while Shipp finished in a tie for 23rd place with a score of one-under par.
Harrison Rhoades, playing in his first tournament of the spring, rounded out the Pack lineup with a three-day score of seven-over par to finish in a tie for 64thplace
Final round play for NC State begins at 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
