Wolfpack Women's Relay Team Breaks Program Record As Power Five, Camel City Invites Come To Close

The NC State track and field team ended its weekend at the Michigan Power Five Invitational and the Camel City Invitational on a strong note with an impressive day that included personal-best and program-best performances.
In addition to a collection of great individual outings across both meets, the NC State women's 4x400 relay team made up of Gabriele Cunningham, Jada Griffin, Janel Pate, and Alexis Postell earned a spot at the top of the NC State Top-10 List in the event with their record-breaking performance at the Michigan Power Five Invitational.Â

MICHIGAN POWER FIVE INVITATIONAL:
Results
The team saw tremendous success on its second day of competition at the meet, adding to its conference qualifying marks with solid performances in the men's 3000m and the men's mile. Additionally, both 4x400m relay teams recorded times that sit in the NC State Top-10.

THROWS:
Joshua Davis began the day for the Wolfpack throwers with a third-place finish in the weight throw. His final attempt of 72' 6.50" (22.11m) put him on the podium for the fifth time in as many outings this season.

Lauren Evans' fourth-place finish in the shot put came with a new PR with a mark of 52' 11.50" (16.14m) on her fifth attempt.

ON THE TRACK:
After qualifying for the 60m hurdles final Friday, Gabriele Cunningham completed another solid performance in the event on Saturday, taking first place with a time of 8.25. It marked Cunningham's third podium finish in the 60m hurdles this indoor season.

NC State took second and third place in the men's 200m race. Dylan Peebles finished in second place with a time of 21.23, and Cravont Charleston both clocked a new PR and earned a bronze medal with his time of 21.28.

The Wolfpack distance runners continued to impress at the Power Five Invite. Tim Bason achieved a new PR and an ACC Indoor Championships qualifying mark in the mile. His time of 4:06.79 earned him second in the event.

In the 3000m, both Joe Bistritz (8:11.65) and Ben Barrett (8:14.05) qualified for ACC Indoors. Barrett's time was also a new PR.

History was made in both the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay races. On the men's side, Charleston, Shannon Patterson, Kelly, and Peebles notched the sixth-best time in NC State history with a time of 3:14.71. Cunningham, Griffin, Pate, and Postell's program-best time of 3:46.64 in the women's relay topped the previous top time by almost two seconds.Â

Elly Henes set a new PR in the women's 3000m Elite with a time of 9:11.95. Her time currently stands as the sixth-best mark in the country and the best in the ACC this season.
