
#STATEment! Wolfpack Women Claim Third-Straight ACC Title, Men Take Third at Conference Championships

Three NC State women finish inside the top 10, including a runner-up performance by Elly Henes

BOSTON – The 12th-ranked NC State women's cross country team edged out No. 18 Notre Dame by one point to claim the program's third-straight and 24th overall ACC Championship title Friday morning at Franklin Park. The women finished the meet with 67 points.

On the men's side, the Wolfpack placed third for the third season in a row with a total of 85 points. NC State's men have now finished inside the top three at the ACC Championships at 28 of the last 30 conference meets.
WOMEN'S RACE RECAP:
NC State saw three of its women finish inside the top 10. Wolfpack All-American Elly Henes was the squad's top finisher for the third meet in a row, taking second place in 20:16.3 after moving up to the runner-up position over the course of the last 1,000 meters of the race.

Dominique Clairmonte followed behind her, finishing eighth with a mark of 20:40.2. Nell Crosby crossed the finish line just seconds later with a season-best time of 20:44.0 to place 10th.
Nevada Mareno was NC State's fourth finisher as she placed 22nd in 21:02.5, her best 6K time of the season. Savannah Shaw also posted a season and personal-best time of 21:05.5 on the way to finishing 25th.

Isabel Zimmermann (21:16.1) and Heather Holt (21:20.6) crossed the line next for the Pack, posting 29th- and 32nd-place finishes, respectively. Anna Vess (50th, 21:45.9), Sarah LaTour (57th, 21:51.5), and Julia Zachgo (74th, 22:05.7) rounded out the Wolfpack's lineup for the conference meet.
MEN'S RACE RECAP:
The Pack men once again put together a solid showing at the conference meet, as the team maintained a steady hold on a spot in the top three teams for the majority of the race. NC State's top-four runners all finished within 20 seconds of one another.
Ian Shanklin crossed the finish line first for the Wolfpack, taking seventh place with a personal-best performance of 23:54.1. Edwin Rutto placed 14th after shaving over 40 seconds off of his PR to clock a time of 24:03.3.
Elijah Moskowitz (24:10.3) and Gavin Gaynor (24:11.4) placed 17th and 18th, respectively, with Gaynor setting an 8K personal best. Joe Bistritz was the Wolfpack's fifth finisher, placing 29th in 24:25.8.
Patrick Sheehan (45th, 24:38.0) and Philip Hall (68th, 24:28.0) were NC State's next runners to cross the line. Tanis Baldwin (74th, 25:01.6), Ben Barrett (103rd, 25:46.1) and Tim Bason (112th, 26:02.8) were also in action for the Wolfpack.

ALL-ACC HONOREES:
NC State saw seven student-athletes collect All-ACC honors between its men's and women's teams. To earn All-ACC accolades, an athlete must finish inside the top 21.
All of the Pack's All-ACC performers on the men's side were first-time honorees as NC State saw four of its runners finish inside the top 18. Shanklin (7th), Rutto (14th), Moskowitz (17th) and Gaynor (18th) all claimed the all-conference nod.
For the women, Henes (2nd) took home All-ACC honors for the third time in her career, and Clairmonte (8th) repeated as an All-ACC honoree for the second season in a row. Racing in her first ACC Championships meet, Crosby (10th) garnered All-ACC status for the first time in her career.

NC State's postseason will continue as the team gears up for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships, which is set for Nov. 9 in Rock Hill, S.C. The top-two teams from the region will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championships in Madison, Wis. on Nov. 17.
