SOUTHEAST REGIONAL SUCCESS:
2017 REWIND:
Last season, NC State's women captured the Southeast Region title for the second year in a row, posting a score of 68 at the regional meet. Dominique Clairmonte was the Pack's top finisher, placing fifth to lead the way for the Wolfpack's win. Elly Henes (6th), Beth Taye (8th) and Rachel Koon (16th) joined Clairmonte as All-Region performers.
NC State's men were led by an All-Region performance from Ian Shanklin, who finished 19th overall. The squad took fourth place and later earned an at-large bid to compete at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
LAST TIME OUT:
The NC State women's program claimed its third straight and 24th overall conference title at the ACC Championships two weeks ago. The team edged out Notre Dame by one point to capture the win. The Wolfpack saw three of its women finish in the top 10 as Elly Henes (2nd), Dominique Clairmonte (8th) and Nell Crosby (10th) were named All-ACC performers.
The Pack men placed third for the third season in a row with 85 points. Four of NC State's five scorers were named to the all-conference team, as Ian Shanklin (7th), Edwin Rutto (14th), Elijah Moskowitz (17th) and Gavin Gaynor (18th) took home the honors.
PACK IN THE POLLS:
After taking first place at the ACC Championships, NC State's women moved up a spot in the rankings to stand in a tie with Wisconsin for 11th in the nation. The Pack men reentered the top 30, checking in at No. 26 headed into the regional meet. The national rankings make NC State one of only two programs in the region to have both its men's and women's teams featured in the top 30.
UP NEXT:
The top two teams from each region will earn automatic bids to the NCAA National Championships, which is set for Nov. 17 in Madison, Wis. Thirteen additional teams will receive at-large bids to round out the 31-team field for the national meet.
