Smith Competes at Florence ITF Futures Event

Florence, S.C. -- Freshman Alana Smith traveled to Florence, S.C. on Sunday to compete at the Florence ITF Futures Event.
Taking on former four-time All-American Julia Elbaba, Smith was defeated 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of qualifying singles competition. Elbaba set and still holds the Virginia Cavaliers women's tennis record for most career singles wins.
Smith moves to 10-3 overall for the fall season, including a 6-2 singles record.
The Pack will be back in action at the ITA Carolina Regional Oct. 18-22.
