CARY, N.C. - No. 13 and third-seeded NC State women's tennis swept No. 7 and top-seeded Virginia, 4-0, to capture the 2026 ACC Championship Sunday afternoon at Cary Tennis Park. The victory marks the second ACC title in program history and the first since 2023. No. 43 Mia Slama delivered the match-clinching point for the second consecutive day, defeating No. 61 Vivian Yang in straight sets to secure the championship.
NC State claimed the doubles point for the third time in as many matches during the tournament, avenging a regular-season loss to the Cavaliers in doubles play. No. 4 Victoria Osuigwe and Gabriella Broadfoot opened the round with a 6-4 win over No. 8 Vivian Yang and Melodie Collard, before Slama and Lavinia Tanasie clinched the point with a 7-5 victory over Isabelle Lacy and Katie Rolls.
In singles play, the Wolfpack built momentum with a pair of straight-set victories. Osuigwe put NC State ahead 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 122 Martina Genis Salas on court five, followed by No. 52 Anna Zyryanova's 6-3, 6-2 victory over No. 29 Annabelle Xu on court two. Slama then sealed the sweep on court one, earning a 7-6(4), 6-2 win over Yang.
To claim the league title, NC State recorded three top 25 victories over No. 21 California, No. 6 North Carolina and No. 7 Virginia. The Wolfpack secured the doubles point in all three matches and dropped just two singles contests throughout the tournament.
Slama was named the ACC Championship Most Valuable Player after a standout weekend. Her performance was highlighted by a comeback victory over No. 2 and reigning NCAA Singles Champion Reese Brantmeier of North Carolina in the semifinal round. She clinched two of NC State's three matches in singles play and, alongside Tanasie, contributed multiple doubles wins, including Sunday's clinching point.
